MASSEY, ON – Kelsey Ouellet had 3 goals and 3 assists while Easton Hall added 2 goals and 3 assists as the Soo Thunderbirds overwhelmed the Elliot Lake Vikings 17-0 at the Massey & District Arena on Friday night.
Thunderbirds got on the scoreboard early as Daniel Beaupre scored his 18th just before the two-minute mark as he opted to shoot on a two-on-one to give the Thunderbirds the early 1-0 lead.
Just over a minute later, Easton Hall netted his second of the season at 3:09 beating Vikings starter Braydon Garnhart for a 2-0 Thunderbirds lead.
Easton Hall got his second of the game just before the period’s midway point, which made it 3-0.
Late in the frame, Jacob Smith potted his 21st from Hall at 18:51 and then in the dying seconds of the period Thomas Degagne made it 5-0 after one period of play.
The Thunderbirds offence went into high gear in the second period when they fired home 8 goals. Samuel Lake, Ouellet, Connor Stokes, Jonathan Sonedecker with a pair back-to-back, Stokes, Degagne and Ouellet made it 13-0 after 40 minutes of play.
In the third James Legler made it 14-0 only 29 seconds into the period.
Ouellet finished off his hat trick goal at 5:19 of the third, while Lake and Kolby Fellinger rounded out the scoring in the one-sided affair.
With the win the visiting Thunderbirds improve to 28-13-4-1 while the Vikings move to 5-34-1-4
