BLIND RIVER – Elliot Lake Wildcats goaltender Tristan Hanna turned aside all 24 shots he faced to record his first Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League shutout as his club blanked the Blind River Beavers 5-0 Saturday at the Blind River Community Centre.
The Wildcats got the only offensive production they would need on this night in the latter stages of the opening period as Shane Woolsey and Liam Blais notched goals less than two minutes apart.
Elliot Lake tacked on three more tallies in the middle session to wrap-up the night’s scoring on markers from Aaron Carmichael, Josef Kittelberger and another by Blais.
Alec MacKenzie dished out a pair of assists to aid the Wildcats offensively.
Braddock Baalerud started for Blind River and allowed four goals against on 22 shots and suffered the loss.
Zachary Mills played the final 23:39 for the Beavers and gave up one against on 20 shots in a relief stint.
