The Elliot Lake Red Wings will be hosting a congenital heart disease (CHD) awareness game on February 19th 2:00pm at Centennial Arena.
There will be CHD cookies for sale, a donation bucket and the team will be wearing CHD jerseys of our sponsor HiRail Leasing which will be auctioned off during the game.
You will be able to fill out the auction sheet at the game or call in your bid to 705.885.0199 if you want to bid on your players jersey for friends and family not at the game.
Starting bid is $100.
We have children in Elliot Lake and surrounding areas who have congenital heart disease and the North Shore Cruisers have supported them eliminating some of the financial strain, so they can focus on what matters.
For over 30 years the North Shore Cruisers have been helping families not just those with congenital heart disease, but all childhood injury, illness and disabilities; By helping cover the cost of medical care not covered by OHIP, private insurance and other groups. The North Shore Cruisers have assisted families purchasing wheelchairs, building ramps, special equipment, locator bracelets for special needs children through project lifesaver. The North Shore Cruisers also provide travel grants for families that are required to travel to Sick Kids, CHEO, London and MacMasters children’s hospital and accommodations. They were partners in the purchasing and construction of inclusive playground equipment at Westview Park and are currently raising funds for more inclusive play equipment for other parks in the North Shore./p>
All proceeds from this game go to the North Shore Cruisers Sick Kids fund, and they will be on site to collect donations. Let’s all band together and help them raise funds so they can continue to do what they do best, help families get better together.
– Congenital Heart Disease is one or more problems with the heart that is present at Birth.
– Affects 1 in 100 children and is 60x more prevalent than all childhood cancers combined.
– For every $1.00 raised for heart disease research less then a penny is allotted to CHD.
