SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced today that forwards Shane Woolsey of the Elliot Lake Wildcats along with Cody Gratton of the Cochrane Crunch and Kirkland Lake Gold Miners defenceman Dylan Rosen have named Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week for the period wrapping up Sept. 28.
SHANE WOOLSEY, (F) ELLIOT LAKE WILDCATS – The 17-year-old Iroquois, Ont., product has played a pivotal role in helping the Wildcats reel off a five-game winning streak.
Elliot Lake’s leading point producer has got on the score sheet in each of his club’s six games so far this season.
Woolsey continued his point run last week by picking up an assist in a 5-4 overtime triumph vs. Sudbury Wednesday and followed that up by notching the game-winner and setting up two others in a 5-2 triumph at Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday.
CODY GRATTON, (F) COCHRANE CRUNCH – Gratton continues to produce at an impressive rate topping all NOJHL skaters with 17 points in his first eight outings.
His efforts last week began Thursday when he fired a hat trick and had a helper in a 6-2 victory over Blind River.
Two nights later the 20-year-old from Sudbury tacked on two more tallies to raise his league-leading goal total to nine in a 6-4 win vs. Mattawa.
DYLAN ROSEN, (D) KIRKLAND LAKE GOLD MINERS – One of the returnees from Kirkland Lake’s championship-winning side from last season, Rosen chipped in with four points aiding the Gold Miners extend a winning streak to three and running their overall record to 6-1.
The towering six-foot-five-inch, 215-pound Clarkston, Mich., native started with an assist in a 3-2 decision on the road vs. Abitibi Tuesday.
Rosen then potted two markers and added a helper in a 9-0 romp over Blind River on Friday.
