MacLean leads Wildcats past Beavers

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – Spencer MacLean tallied twice, including the game-winner, and added an assist as the Elliot Lake Wildcats dumped the Blind River Beavers 7-1 Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Centennial Arena.

It took Elliot Lake just 28 seconds to notch their first goal of the season as Alec MacKenzie struck quickly.

MacLean made it 2-0 before the first was complete as he connected at 16:22.

The power play allowed Blind River to get one back as Sean Paterson struck during a man advantage opportunity early into the middle stanza.

Answering back with an extra man effort of their, MacLean scored six minutes into the frame.

Connor Rider then made it 4-1 for the Wildcats after 40 minutes.

Elliot Lake then put the game away in the third tacking on three more to round out the scoring.

Alex Mitsionis’ first NOJHL goal extended the Wildcats lead to four as he struck shorthanded at 1:44.

Another initial tally in the league came off the stick Artur Terchiyev at 3:06 while Shane Woolsey wrapped things up at 7:15.

Rider, Troy Button and Nathan Campbell chipped in with two assists apiece for the winning side.

Allan Menary made 29 saves in securing the victory for Elliot Lake.

Max Barr started for the Beavers and suffered the loss allowing seven against on 37 attempts.

Martin Miloslovich stopped all three shots he faced in nearly 13 minutes of relief.
