TRENTON, Ont. — Tickets are now on sale for the 2023 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge, which will be played at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens in Trenton, Ont., November 13-15.
The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), in partnership with the Trenton Golden Hawks, are presenting the 2023 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge. The Bay of Quinte Tourism and City of Quinte West have both supported the event financially and through their marketing departments.
“It is a true honour that the Eastern Leagues of the Canadian Junior Hockey League and the Ontario Junior Hockey League have put faith in the Trenton Golden Hawks, the City of Quinte West, and the Bay of Quinte region once again,” said John McDonald, Chair of the Eastern Canada Cup Host Committee. “This is our third time hosting this high-calibre and prestigious tournament. It showcases Eastern Canada’s best CJHL players. Our fans, the community, volunteers, the business sector, along with the Trenton Kinsmen have jumped in with both feet. We cannot wait for the puck to drop.”
Tickets are $10 per day or $25 for a three-day pass. ‘Late day’ passes are $5 after 5 p.m.

“On behalf of the City Council and the Citizens of Quinte West, it is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all of the athletes, coaching staff and scouts to the 2023 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge,” said Jim Harrison, Mayor City of Quinte West. “Quinte West is proud to be a hockey haven for anyone who wishes to experience this Canadian pastime. The host arena, the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens, is not only home to the competitive Trenton Golden Hawks Junior A Hockey Club, but a place for all ages to create cherished memories playing hockey, skating and many other sports and community events all year long. Welcome!”
The Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge is one of the premier Jr. A hockey events in the country and provides tremendous exposure for the top prospects of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL), Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL) and the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL). Teams from the five leagues will play in front of scouts from all over the hockey world – including the NHL, NCAA, CHL and U SPORTS.
Additionally, it serves as a player identification event for the coaching staff for Team Canada East in player selection for the team’s annual training camp and subsequent entry into the World Junior A Challenge, Dec. 10-17 in Truro, N.S.
“One of the Bay of Quinte region’s biggest opportunities to drive economic activity is through sports because of the investments that our communities have made, like Quinte West with the Duncan Memorial,” said Dug Stevenson, Executive Director of Bay of Quinte Tourism. “So, filling those seats, and our restaurants and hotels with people from across Eastern Canada for first-class hockey for multiple nights is something we really wanted to get behind as a sponsor.”
The Eastern Canada Cup was last held in 2018 in Trenton. The ECCASC tournament format will feature 10 all-star teams, two each from the five eastern Canadian Jr. A leagues.
A total of 23 games will be played using a modified two-period format in round-robin, quarter-final, semifinal and championship games.
Teams will be awarded three points for a win in regulation time, two points for an overtime triumph and one point for an overtime or shootout loss.
The schedule for the 2023 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge will be announced during the coming weeks along with other event details such as sponsors, rosters and coaches.
