BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Blind River Beavers captain Caleb Serre scored twice while Ian Zaleski had a goal and two assists Saturday night to help lead their club to a 7-3 victory over the Elliot Lake Wildcats in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the Blind River Community Centre.
The Beavers started strong in this one notching tallies a minute apart in the first period from Brendan Young and Jack McLeod to go up by a pair after one.
An Elliot Lake power play effort courtesy of David Dedo helped them cut into their deficit 15:19 into the middle stanza only to see Serre strike a few shifts later to restore the two-goal cushion.
Moving on to the final frame, Nathan Engel collected his first NOJHL marker for the Beavers at 3:39 with his side up a skater.
Connor Taylor answered for the Wildcats on the next shift though to make it a 4-2 game.
However, Blind River extended their lead with offensive efforts supplied by Serre, Zaleski and Lucas Adams, with the latter notching his initial league marker.
Sean Hagan with his first, during a Wildcats man advantage, rounded out the scoring at 15:35.
Blind River out shot Elliot Lake 37-25 on the night with Maxim Sidelnik picking up the win while Dominic Boily suffered the loss.
